"Supporting the Next Generation of Cyclists"
Junior Cyclist Grant Program
The Kris Yip Memorial Foundation Junior Cyclist Grant Program supports young riders who are discovering their love for cycling and are committed to growing in the sport.
Cycling plays a powerful role in shaping confidence, discipline, and community. Kris believed deeply in sharing his passion, welcoming young riders, and creating spaces where athletes feel supported, included, and inspired to keep going. This program carries those values forward by helping remove financial barriers and investing directly in the next generation of cyclists.
The Foundation awards Junior Cyclist Grants each spring to support youth pursuing their cycling goals across Northern BC.
Program Details
- Eligibility: Athletes 13 to 18 years old
- Region: Northern British Columbia, including Quesnel and communities to the north
- Awards: Two grants of $500 are awarded annually
Grant funds may be used to support training, equipment, race fees, travel, or other cycling-related expenses that help young athletes continue developing in the sport.
More Than Financial Support
This program is about more than funding. It's about encouragement, belief, and letting young riders know they are seen and supported. Whether a rider is just beginning to explore competitive cycling or already setting goals for the future, the Junior Cycling Grant Program exists to help them move forward with confidence.
By investing in youth, we honour Kris's legacy of kindness, sportsmanship, and inclusion, and help build a strong, connected cycling community across Northern BC.
Application details and timelines will be shared soon. We look forward to supporting young athletes and celebrating the future of cycling in the spring.
