Meet Grant Recipient Jenna Foreman

Jenna Foreman Named Inaugural Recipient of Kris Yip Memorial Foundation Junior Cyclist Grant

The Kris Yip Memorial Foundation is proud to announce Jenna Foreman as one of the inaugural recipients of the 2026 Junior Cyclist Grant Program.

For anyone involved in cycling in Prince George, Jenna's name is already becoming well-known. Her accomplishments on the bike demonstrate an impressive combination of talent, determination, and resilience.

In 2025, Jenna captured the High School Enduro Provincial Championship, earned multiple podium finishes on both the BC Cup and Canada Cup circuits, and even competed at the BC Championships while recovering from a broken finger. Her willingness to push through challenges and continue pursuing her goals speaks volumes about her character.

But while her results are remarkable, they are only part of the story.

More Than Results

When reviewing grant applications, the Foundation looked beyond race outcomes. We sought young athletes who embody the values that Kris Yip demonstrated throughout his life: perseverance, humility, leadership, and a commitment to community.

Jenna stood out for all of those reasons.

She volunteers as a coach with the Prince George Cycling Club's youth program, helping introduce the next generation to the sport she loves. She has invested in her own growth by earning her mountain bike coaching certification, works locally within the cycling industry, and continually seeks opportunities to learn and improve both on and off the bike.

Her dedication to giving back while pursuing ambitious athletic goals reflects the spirit of the grant program and the legacy we hope to continue through Kris's memory.

Overcoming Northern Challenges

Competitive cycling in Northern British Columbia comes with unique obstacles.

Athletes often face significant travel costs, limited access to training terrain, and fewer opportunities to compete compared to those living closer to major racing hubs. Despite these challenges, Jenna has remained focused and self-motivated.

Balancing school, intensive training, and two jobs, she continues to work toward an ambitious dream: one day competing professionally on the World Cup mountain bike circuit.

That level of commitment requires more than talent. It requires perseverance, discipline, and the willingness to keep showing up when the path becomes difficult.

Riding Forward

In her application, Jenna shared that mountain biking has taught her perseverance, dedication, and the courage to get back up after every fall.

Those lessons resonate deeply with the Foundation's mission. They are qualities Kris admired and embodied throughout his own life.

We are excited to support Jenna as she continues her cycling journey and pursues her goals throughout the 2026 season and beyond.

Congratulations, Jenna. We look forward to cheering you on every step of the way.

The future of cycling in Northern British Columbia is bright.

The Kris Yip Memorial Foundation extends its sincere gratitude to the Prince George Community Foundation and Engage Sport North for their support of the Junior Cyclist Grant Program and their commitment to helping young athletes thrive.
